Our Story.
Founded in 2006, CARPBR was created from a simple belief: every person deserves dignity, access, and compassionate care — no matter their circumstances. What began as a grassroots response to the growing needs of individuals impacted by incarceration, HIV, substance use, homelessness, and systemic barriers has evolved into a trusted community-based organization redefining reentry and wellness across Louisiana.
At CARPBR, we understand that health and healing do not happen in silos. Our work is built around whole-person care — addressing physical health, mental wellness, social support, prevention, education, and connection all under one mission-driven approach. Through peer-based engagement, trauma-informed practices, and low-barrier services, we meet people where they are and walk alongside them toward stability and self-determination.
Over the years, CARPBR has expanded into a multi-service organization serving thousands of individuals annually across Baton Rouge and surrounding parishes. From our Be Safe outreach initiative and mobile services to prevention screenings, linkage to care, reentry support, psychoeducational forums, and wellness-centered community programming, our work continues to center the voices and experiences of the people we serve.
We believe that meaningful change happens through compassion, consistency, and community. Every interaction is an opportunity to reduce stigma, restore hope, and connect individuals to a world of opportunities.
Today, CARPBR continues to grow as an innovative leader in community wellness and reentry services — building safer, healthier, and more connected communities through care, dignity, and access.
